How it all began
My name is Josef (Fini), I was born in Schwaz in 1985 and live with my wife and daughter in beautiful Tux. As a child, my passion for the universe was sparked by a beautiful, bright shooting star. Ever since, the mysteries of space and its infinite expanse have fascinated me. In 2010 I was given my first telescope – more of a toy, really, and I quickly lost interest. But astronomy wouldn’t let me go: I deepened my knowledge through books, specialist magazines and documentaries about the cosmos and its diversity.
A passion for astrophotography
For Christmas 2020 my wife, acting as the “Christkind”, surprised me with a telescope with GoTo control, a Skywatcher 114/500 Newtonian. With this somewhat higher-quality gear it became clear to me: I didn’t just want to observe, but to capture the beauty of the night sky through astrophotography. Since then I’ve continuously expanded my equipment and devote myself with great enthusiasm to astrophotography. It brings me joy to capture the fascinating details of stars, galaxies and nebulae and to preserve the beauty of the universe in my images.
