M51, auch bekannt als Whirlpool-Galaxie, ist eine Spiralgalaxie im Sternbild Jagdhunde und ist etwa 25 Millionen Lichtjahre von der Erde entfernt. Sie ist bekannt für ihre einzigartige Spiralstruktur und die Wechselwirkung mit der kleineren Begleitgalaxie NGC 5195.
